K6Now! brings slow Pentium PCs up
to AMD K6-2 or K6-3
Rapid advances in computing technology are causing shorter life cycles for users systems.
Keeping up with these current technologies is often a costly and complex venture.
HighPerTEC addresses this problem with the K6Now! products which allows users to increase
performance of their existing system without having to replace the motherboard and other
components. The K6Now! upgrades are chip-for-chip replacements that utilizes the AMD-K6-2
or K6-3 processors with 3DNow! technology and PowerLeaps patented Upgrade sockets. The
K6Now! processor upgrades are an inexpensive and easy way to increase a system s
processing performance up to 600%. It installs into any socket 5 or socket 7-pin layout
with a simple flip of a lever and will equip your system with the necessary tools for
handling today s processor intensive applications.
As quickly as today's
technology changes, a product is often outdated shortly after it is purchased. Not only
can the hardware become antiquated but updated software generates more data-intensive
files that demand greater processor speed. There is also an increasing demand of added
system functionality such as multi-tasking, graphics, and faster Internet access that puts
additional stress on the processor. Furthermore, there is an increased use of
processor-demanding operating systems and applications such as Microsoft Windowsr 95, 98,
NT, OS/2 Warp, Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator requiring additional speed.

PCs + Server
The HighPerTEC K6Now! upgrades are available to upgrade Pentium 75, 90, 100, 120,
133, 166 and higher speed systems up to AMD K6-2 400 or AMD K6-3 450 MHz with MMX and
3D-Now! support for PCs and servers, even if the manufacturer doesn't offer an upgrade
path for the CPU. K6Now! gives up to 600% more power to all CPU intensive applications.

Most of the older Pentium PCs
or Servers with outdated 75, 90, 100, 120, 133, 166 or 200 MHz Pentium Processors are
upgradeable with our easy to install HighPerTEC K6Now! CPU-Upgrade modules. With K6Now!
you could upgrade your system up to AMD K6-2 400 or K6-3 450 MHz performance within a few
minutes. Upgrading an older Pentium system with CPU-Upgrade modules is the only solution,
if new standard mainboards are not available for your specific system (COMPAQ, HP, IBM
a.s.o.). There are more than 200 Million slower Pentium PCs installed worldwide, so that
there is a very interesting market for CPU-Upgrade technologies.

K6Now! CPU-Upgrades with AMD K6-2 or K6-3 CPUs with 3DNow!
3DNow! technology is the first innovation that significantly enhances
three-dimensional (3D) graphics and multimedia performance for today's mainstream
Microsoftr Windows compatible personal computers. Combining 3DNow! technology with
industry standard MMX instructions, the K6Now! enhancements can complement 3D graphic
cards to deliver lifelike images and big-screen stereo sound. Most applications offers
even more speed with optimized 3D Graphics device drivers from the software manufacturers.
Some of the device drivers for 3D applications and games such as Quake are available as
free downloads from the AMD
Homepage .
K6Now! Power using Business applications
Using standard business applications, the AMD K6-2 and K6-3 processors outperforms
most Intel Pentium II CPUs and offers much better price/performance relations to the power
user. With the HighPerTEC K6Now! CPU-Upgrades there is an easy upgrade solution with the
new AMD processors for much more power in most systems without the hazzle of new hard- and
software configurations.
K6Now!
How it works
The function of all K6Now! processor upgrades are easy to explain. The new AMD K6-2
and K6-3 processors are using less voltage than the older Intel CPUs. A small switching
power supply on the upgrade socket regulates the necessary core power for the new CPU,
using a power connection direct from the PCs power supply. In opposite to linear power
supplies, there is almost no heat dissapation. K6Now! is designed with an automatic clock
multiplier supporting up to 95MHz external bus speed. Some motherboards allow users to
take advantage of the faster bus speed with a single jumper change. The internal clock
multiplier of the CPU reads the switch settings from the upgrade module to calculate the
maximum speed within the CPU based on the mainboards bus speed. Most mainboards offers 60
or 66 MHz as the base frequency. This technology is standard with all PC systems, using
upgrades or not, and has nothing to do with over-clocking or other dangerous tricks to get
more speed out of a CPU. With the K6Now! CPU-Upgrades, the CPUs and boards are always used
within the manufacturers specifications.

K6Now! Compatibility
List:
K6Now! is compatible with a very broad base of
systems. If a particular manufacturer or model is not shown on one of our compatibility
lists, that does not mean that the make or model is incompatible. It simply means that we
have not received a verified report from either a customer or our in-house testing
facility that confirms that the system is compatible. If a system falls into the class of
systems that a particular K6Now! was designed for, our policy is to consider that system
compatible unless proven otherwise. These compatibility lists are composed of systems that
we or our customers have tested with the K6Now! and have found to be compatible. These
lists are constantly changing, are not considered complete and are provided as such for
your convenience.
All K6Now! upgrades fits into a Socket 5 or Socket 7 ZIF socket. It
replaces a Pentium Pro (P6), Pentium MMX, AMD K5, AMD K6, or Cyrix 6x86. It also replaces
Pentium (P5) processors, as long as they are in a Socket 5 or Socket 7. It does not
replace 486 or 586 processors (use the 586Now!).
If there is any doubt, the socket type is engraved into the socket itself. The K6Now! has
onboard voltage regulators to resolve voltage incompatibilities. This allows it to work in
some systems that do not support the AMD K6-2 or K6-3 directly.
The computer's BIOS must support AMD processors. As
a rule of thumb, if the K6 or K5 is supported, the K6Now! typically works. Some BIOS
incompatibilities can be resolved by a BIOS upgrade from the systems manufacturer or ot Unicore or MicroFirmware.
However, Unicore and MicroFirmware supports a limited number of systems, mostly those with
Award BIOS or Phoenix BIOS originally.
MMXNow!-233
- Most systems, that won't work with the K6Now! products will work with MMXNow!, a
similar processor upgrade using the Intel 233 MHz MMX CPU instead of the AMD processors.
